Millennial counseling
You are yearning to follow your soul’s calling and carve out your best life, career, and relationships. But something seems to be holding you back.
You may well be in the middle of what could be called a Millennial “quarter-life crisis,” a space somewhere between your mid twenties and mid thirties in which you are ready to get real with yourself about the life, relationships and path that will define your present and future happiness.
You notice you are feeling anxious or down about your current state of affairs and you’re longing for some support in crossing over to the other side beyond your struggles and sometimes it feels like you’re navigating a maze.
You’ve come to an impasse while trying to reach your desired destination and you’ve become either more anxious and/or downtrodden in the process. Perhaps you’ve tried forcefully breaking down walls, but more walls seem to come up in your path. Or you’ve tried retracing your missteps to discover where you went wrong, but this keeps you coming back to the same place you started. You may have even attempted a degree of Buddha-like patience, but are still left with the gnawing sense that your Life is waiting for you, if only you found some guidance to help you untangle the confusion and distress.
Deep down you can’t deny there is an aching that needs tending. You want to move forward and forge the life path that you know you are meant for but haven’t quite allowed yourself to fully envision deserving. Or, maybe you are already feeling really ready to take the next steps but unsure of the direction and need a trusted professional to help you help yourself.
You are not alone. Many people struggle with this phase of life and don’t feel like they have a roadmap.
Therapy can help. We will uncover the patterns that are keeping you stuck and help you renew trust in yourself while developing healthier strategies for coping with sadness, disappointment, and anxiety. I will walk with you as you grow into deeper levels of self acceptance and self love.
This work may be right for you, if:
You notice self-defeating tendencies that sometimes get the best of you, and for the life of you, you can’t seem to understand why you keep bumping up against the same barriers.
You beat up on yourself emotionally for not yet being where you thought you “should” be by now. If you really looked closely, you might even admit to yourself that you have been your toughest critic.
You spin your wheels attempting to get everything “just right” in your professional life, your relationships, and your family life.
You feel like you’ve managed to convince the rest of the world you are totally fine with where you are and who you are, but at the end of the day you come home to yourself and find that you’re really struggling to achieve true fulfillment, deeper meaning, and fundamental happiness.
You find that you cope sometimes by numbing out or escaping. Either with substances, binge watching, obsessing over the latest news feed, scrolling endlessly on Instagram, ( insert your favored escape mechanism here).
